MailyVersion 0.9.0
Maily 0.9 · installing without going through GitHub
Until now, installing Maily meant going through GitHub: finding the right version, the right file for your system. And to know a new version existed, you had to go and check for yourself. For someone who doesn't code, that was already a closed door.
So three things change:
- a download page on the website, for macOS, Windows and Linux;
- a one-line install, which checks the downloaded file before installing it, and updates Maily when you run it again;
- in the app, a banner tells you when a new version is out.
The choice I stand by: to know whether there is something new, Maily only asks GitHub for the latest version number, once a day. Nothing about your mail or your accounts is sent, and the check can be turned off in the settings.
